QueenSoulVibesSA: A Journey of Positive Vibes in the South African Reggae Dancehall Scene
Welcome to QueenSoulVibesSA, an Events/Social Media/Blogger Promotions Company based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Founded in 2010 by Twin Sisters, 'KhosiQueen' Sekano and 'SoulSista' Sekano, our company is rooted in a deep passion for reggae music and the development of South African reggae artists.
Born and bred in Sebokeng, a township in Southern Gauteng, near Vanderbijlpark and Vereeniging, we were raised in a household surrounded by music enthusiasts. Our father, an avid music collector, introduced us to the enchanting sounds of reggae, including artists such as Peter Tosh, Bob Marley, and Lucky Dube.
Our journey into the arts and entertainment industry began with our unwavering dedication to boost reggae artists' work on social media. Attending numerous reggae dancehall shows and diligently documenting each moment, we naturally became unofficial photographers in Johannesburg. Recognizing our expertise, promoters started inviting us to assist in promoting their events on social media.
During our time in high school, we formed a group with a friend, emulating influential acts like Salt 'n Pepa. We regularly performed at school functions and immersed ourselves in the vibrant hip-hop scene at Le Club in Johannesburg CBD. Following our high school graduation in 1997, we moved to Johannesburg to pursue higher education. KhosiQueen enrolled in Travel and Tourism Management, while SoulSista pursued Sound Engineering.
Fate intervened when we met 'Lasbon Shatta,' a reggae dancehall DJ/MC, through mutual friends. Lasbon introduced us to the Tandoor nightclub, which hosted the renowned reggae and dancehall duo Admiral and Jahseed every Thursday. One visit to the club marked the beginning of our deep involvement with reggae and dancehall music.
Our partnership with Lioness Productions allowed us to participate in organizing the Capleton "King Shango" Concert and work alongside Anthony B. We also forged a fruitful collaboration with 'People of the Sun Productions' and hosted the powerful 'Reggae Against Rape and Abuse' concert in Newtown. It was during this event that we discovered the stellar talent of Jeremiah Fyah Ises, who became a prominent name in the reggae scene under our management.
Guided by our expertise, QueenSoulVibes continues to nurture and elevate artists by providing advice and establishing connections with various producers and production houses. In 2021, we launched our website, becoming a platform for hosting reggae and dancehall works not only from South Africa but also from artists and producers across Zimbabwe, Ghana, Kenya, and Malawi.
At present, we are thrilled to be part of the "King Sfiso Dub Tour" by Trinity House, a Production Company based in Katlehong, East Rand. As social media promoters and consultants, we are touring various provinces, including Mpumalanga, Kwazulu Natal, North West, and the Free State, spreading the infectious energy of reggae dancehall and dub to diverse communities.
