Basadi in Music Awards 2025: Reggae Artist of the Year Nominees Announced

The Basadi in Music Awards, launched in 2022, aims to recognise and celebrate women in music, from musicians and rappers to DJs, composers, and producers.

The term "Basadi" means women, emphasizing recognition, visibility, and empowerment. The awards acknowledge the present artists as well as the previous icons who fought for freedom and equality. This year they have introduced a Vanguard Category which brings glory to all the females who work behind the scenes like Make up artist, Artists Managers, Radio Producers and so on.

By public voting in each category, the awards are presented as the people's choice and stories.

Among the most anticipated categories for the current year is Reggae Artist of the Year, which recognizes females who are not only keeping the flames for reggae music burning bright but also driving the genre forward with passion, purpose, and authenticity. The Reggae category was introduced in 2023, and previous recipients were Empress Lilly (2023) and Reign Afrika (2024).
