Songwriter, Singjay reggae, and dancehall musician Man Wazimu born Peter Wagany is a Nairobi, Kenya-based musician. A native of the community of Mukuru Kwanjenga a slum in Nairobi where life is economically challenging with social issues has shaped his bias in the music industry. An adherent of the Seventh Adventist faith he is a Saturday Sabbath keeper who works six days a week and rest from Friday evening to Saturday evening.
The song titled 72 Hrs produced by Sharky at ‘Angaza Msanii Production’ is a reggae song that tells what happened in the four counties namely Kisumu, Homabay, Siaya, and Migori. The kind of terror unleashed by police in uniform targeting the Luo community by specifically unleashing brutality to Kenyan citizens in their homes indiscriminately. Sixteen were confirmed dead by the time this song was released. This occurred because of the demonstrations in over fourteen counties due to the high cost of living made worse by tax increment which is so unpopular among the Kenyan citizens.
The members of parliament, the presidency, and high-ranking officials in the government received salary increments to cushion them from the high cost of living while the rest of the citizens had more taxes levied on them minus any increment. What is still ongoing is the ethnic profiling of the Luo community from the parliament to every high-ranking government official. Weaponized state-sanctioned militia operation reminiscent of what happened in Germany in 1938 called the Night of Glass is what happens alongside the police under the pretext of quelling demonstrations.
