Lerato Vanessa Molikeng aka ALKEBULAN

Lerato Vanessa Molikeng, popularly known as ALKEBULAN, is a promising rising star in the reggae and dancehall music scene from the Vaal, Evaton, Gauteng. Born on November 8, 2004, Alkebulan’s musical journey is rooted in her Christian faith and her early experiences singing in the church choir at Zion Christian Church (ZCC). 

Her musical influences sparked at a young age, with a particular admiration for Erykah Badu’s African-reggae-inspired style, which ignited her interest in reggae culture. She soon immersed herself in the sounds of legendary artists like Bob Marley, Burning Spear, and Lutan Fyah, shaping her unique sound that blends conscious lyrics with vibrant reggae, dancehall, and Afro beats.

In 2023, Alkebulan joined Gangalee Production, a record label founded by Bright Ndebele in Orange Farm, south of Johannesburg. She expresses her gratitude, saying, “Big shoutout to Gangalee Production and the whole team for believing in me.” Her collaboration portfolio includes notable tracks such as "Bon Op The Beast" featuring Empress Lily and Gangalee, part of the Holy Heights Riddim produced by Speela Records. The project features both local and international acts, including Reign Africa, Skeleton Blazer, Shwaniyah from Dominica, and more.

Alkebulan’s debut album, titled "Salvation", was released on January 3, 2026. The album reflects her journey of self-discovery through Rastafarian beliefs and promotes themes of black excellence. It features a blend of conscious reggae, dancehall, and Afro sounds, with tracks like "Mary Jane" featuring Empress Lily & Gangalee, "Rastafari," and "Moratuwa" featuring Luttan Ptyza. The album is available on digital platforms such as Apple Music and Spotify, showcasing her growing influence and reach.
