Mahke Mvelo

RasTafarian Singer, Songwriter, Composer, Poet and Entrepreneur, Mahke Mvelo has awakening and healing music that is a unique balance of Reggae and Ma”Ska”ndi (a South African Traditional music) that she sings in English and Zulu (IsiZulu - African language) with an element of Rhythm and Poetry flow, strongly motivated by Haile Selassie I and Psalm reading. The Word, Sound and Power of her music is Reggae that is rooted and cultural with Peter Tosh, Bob Marley, Damian Marley, Julian Marley, Stephen Marley, Capleton, Sizzla, Akae Beka, Hugh Masekela, The I-Threes and Busi Mhlongo being her inspiration.

Mahke Mvelo has just released her new single titled “Sing the word” produced, mixed & mastered by young2unn beats along with her 2023 release of her 1st new EP/Album titled “Give Thanks”

“As I trod” released with four new songs along with the bonus track “As I Trod”. Her purpose is to care and share her music for the reason to bring to the polluted earth, world peace, jubilation, purification, healing and consciousness of Jah RasTafari.

On the 7th of February in Emalahleni Kwa-Guqa, Claudia Ntombifuthi Mashinini – Mnisi came on earth and grew naturally to being conscious of her purpose and name Mahke Mvelo. Witbank - home of the legend “Hugh Masekela”, a saxophone player. Kwa-Guqa is historic for being the energy centre of South Africa and a focal point of Africa’s largest coalfields, power stations, steel manufactures and train railway lines.

Mahke Mvelo’s gift and talent as a singer started within her home singing and at her Primary School Choir and had already been writing Poetry when “Julius Makweru” took note of her work. She then performed her first Poem in 2004 on “Rude Boy Paul”, “Lee” and “Sanza’s” Radio show on Y-fm. 

In 2005 November she changed her lifestyle, and discovered RasTafari and has not looked back. Since then she has co-produced her latest and new EP/album “Give Thanks” as well as her 1st single “As I Trod” with Producer “Young 2unn Beats”. She loves researching (as her previous occupation as a Jnr Researcher on TV show ” Zola 7”), dancing and playing the guitar, drums and more and she includes some of those instruments in the production of her music.
