Menelik Nesta Gibbons, known professionally as Don Dada, has released his much anticipated single MEMORIES.
The hip-hop and reggae artist, record producer, entrepreneur, radio personality, disc jockey, and founder and co-owner of Ruff Cutt Studio and Afrika Connect Holdings. He began his musical career in the year 2000, forming Ruff Cutt Studio in 2009, and releasing his debut album Avant-Garde in 2016. He made his debut on the 2016 Mandela Day Concert stage after releasing this album.

Internationally acclaimed Multi-Platinum artist Don Dada's music is produced locally and internationally. His catalog of music has productions by legendary producers such as Sly & Robbie, Delroy Thompson, Sir Clement “Coxstone” Dodd, Leroy Scarlet, founder of the Reggae Powerhouse Band, and Grammy Award winner Touter Harvey, to name a few. Don Dada is the only artist worldwide to have a claim to three official Mandela tracks. He has performed with many prominent artists such as Cat Coore [3rd World], the Legendary Mahotella Queens, Julian Marley, Everton Blender, Beenie Man, Demarco, Sizzla Kalonji, Richie Spice, and many more.
Inspired by the concepts of love, loss, family, and life as a musician on the road, comes his new single entitled ‘MEMORIES’.
MEMORIES was inspired by Don Dada reflecting and reminiscing on what felt like the speed of his daughter reaching high school age. The realisation of his days away on tour and acknowledging that the life of a musician is so much more complex than what is seen on stage birthed the track concept.
The production for the song was created by renowned producers super producer RApz and Rashid Lanie, utilising a deep, driving bass accompanied by melodic strings and chords that drive the song forward with a beautiful energy and infectious tempo, adding a pop feel to the song.
